This is a fictional magazine created by students of Postarcards 2 Book. The content of the magazine was mostly invented by the students.This is a great project that can be made with real life contents too like a yearbook from the class.

December 2011 Student's Projects

Postcards 3B (Intermediate I):the students recorded different kinds of TV Shows featuring Gameshow, News, Talkshow and Sitcom . This is one more role play projects to improve their confidence and oral skills, just like the ones we did in July 2011.

Game show:

Daniel: Hello New York, welcome back to Quizical, your favorite game show! Here are the contestants: Gustavo from Brazil and Artur from Portugal. Ok, what do you hope doing in this game, Gustavo?

Gustavo: I hope having a good performance to win.

Daniel: You, Artur?

Artur: I win this game I’ll win one million dollars.

Daniel: So, Gustavo, here’s your first question: Who was America’s first president?

Gustavo: George Washington?

Daniel: Yeah! Correct! Now it’s one-zero. Artur: What am I thinking?

Artur: But that’s impossible!

Daniel: Answer it, now!

Artur: About your girlfriend?

Daniel: No, I’m thinking about pizza! Ok, you won, you lost. But you still have a prize. Spin this wheel and I’ll show you.

After spinning the wheel…

Daniel: You won! A ballon!

Artur: Are you kidding?

Daniel: I’ll give you a candy too.

News:

Pedro: Welcome back, this is CNN Live with Anderson Cooper

Deborah: and Diane Sawyer

Pedro: Yesterday The Food and Drug Administration put a hold and general recall on Red Bull energy drink.

Deborah: Red Bull has been linked to several birth defects –wing-like growths on the backs of babies.

Pedro: The unusual side effects, which occur 2% of women who drink Red Bull while pregnant, were first reported by researchers at the University of California San Francisco, who used a study group of over 800 women over a course of 3 years.

Deborah: Red Bull is disappointed with the FDA’s action, and does not think that the recall was necessary. Gavin Tyson, Red Bull’s lawyer arguments: “Have you ever met a child who did NOT want wings?”

Pedro: Red Bull has this last week alone spent fifteen million dollars in research and tests, hoping to achieve the perfect flying child as soon as possible.

Deborah: And now our weather forecast with Philippe Morris.

Felipe: Hi Diane. It’s going to rain all weekend, nonstop. Seriously. Stay home.

Pedro: Oh, no!

Felipe: Monday, on the other hand, will be sunny and hot but you’ll have to go to work. Sorry guys, I wish I had better news.

Deborah: Thank you Phillipe.

Pedro: That was CNN Life, we’ll be back at 7 PM.

Deborah: Thanks for watching.

Pedro: Good afternoon.

Talk show:

Host: Vinícius

Guest: Bernardo (Brad Pitt)

Vinícius: Good evening Ladies and gentlemen! We are here today with the amazing actor Brad Pitt.

Vinícius: So, Brad, how’s your marriage? Is Angelina Jolie really that beautiful?

Bernardo: Everything’s cool, man. She’s wonderful.

Vinícius: How many kids do you already have?

Bernardo: (counting on his fingers)…5…no, 6!

Vinicius: Do you plan to have more babies?

Bernardo: Yeah man, we’re considering adopting one or two kids from Brazil.

Vinicius: Isn’t it good news, Brazilians? And what about your career?

Bernardo: Well, I plan to stop acting in three years.

Vinicius: Three years? And then what?

Bernardo: I think I’ll produce movies and maybe write some stories.

Vinicius: And having more babies with Angelina, right?

Bernardo: Sure, why not?

Vinicius: Thank you Brad, always a pleasure.

Bernardo: Any time, man.

Sitcom:

Sitcom: Friends

Monica: Bruna

Introduction:

Ana: A situation comedy, known as sitcom, is a genre of comedy that features characters sharing the same environment, such as a home or workplace, with jokes as part of the dialogue.

Thays: one of the most famous is the American sitcom Friends. It aired from September 22, 1994 to May 6, 2004.

Bruna: The series is about a group of 6 friends in Manhattan. We are going to play a scene with the three female characters: Monica, Rachel and Phoebe.

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's apartment. Monica is on the phone with her mother. Phoebe, Rache are there.]

Thays: Wow, this is so cool, you guys. The entire city is blacked out!

Bruna: Mom says it's all of Manhattan, parts of Brooklyn and Queens, and they have no idea when it's coming back on.

Thays: Wow, you guys, this is big.

Bruna: [into phone] Pants and a sweater? Why, mom? Who am I gonna meet in a blackout? Power company guys? Eligible looters? Could we talk about this later? OK. [hangs up]

Ana: Can I borrow the phone? I want to call my apartment and check on my grandma. [to Monica] What's my number?

[Monica and Rachel look at Phoebe strangely.]

Ana: Well, I never call me.
